Thank You First Berkshire District For Your Support
I
am honored to have served my constituents in North Adams as City
Councilor for the last 20 years, and I now look forward to representing
all of the people of the First Berkshire District as State
Representative.
We
have a diverse district, from my hometown and our Berkshire County
communities to our rural towns of Franklin County--from Williamstown to
Heath.
As
a business owner and elected official, I am aware of the needs of our
district, and I have traveled to listen to small business owners whose
concerns I share. We live in challenging times, but we must continue to
pursue growth and job creation. As your State Representative, I will be
committed to the support of First Berkshire business, especially small
business, and pursue the growth necessary to the expansion of a vibrant
business environment and job security for our workers.
Through
my work at Cariddi Sales Company, I know what it's like to meet the
payroll and pay the bills. I will work to reduce healthcare costs and
seek out and support opportunities for economic growth that will
strengthen the tax bases of our towns and cities. And I will pursue
avenues to assist our creative arts and agricultural economies, so that
they will be sustainable, grow, thrive and profit.
My
work as a community volunteer has, as well, given me greater
understanding of the problems of our families and the need to
preserve our natural heritage and culture that have made our district
renowned throughout the Commonwealth and the world.
Also
through my work on the City Council, I have suggested changes to state
and federal laws by authoring Resolutions on topics such as healthcare,
the use of hand-held devices while operating a motor vehicle, school
nutrition and cable television.
I
have been a consistent supporter of policies that benefit our
environment. I served on our library building committee, and worked
toward making it a certified LEED green building. I support our local
energy conservation efforts through our Take Charge initiative and I
serve on our city's Green Committee, which works toward making North
Adams more energy efficient.
In
City Council matters I have drawn on my experience, common sense and
thoughtful planning to guide me in making meaningful decisions and
forging effective coalitions. I focus my knowledge, talents, abilities
and resources on building the best North Adams possible. I want to do
the same for the First Berkshire District. Your vote will help me to do
just that.
I
am committed to making our collective voice heard in Boston, and to
using my skills as a leader, listener and facilitator to bring about
positive, constructive changes for our district. I am passionate about
getting things done on Beacon Hill, for you and for our communities.
By working together, we can make the First Berkshire District and our Commonwealth better, safer and more prosperous.
